The Natural Protected Area Doradillo was created in 2001 under the management category V (IUCN): "PROTECTED LAND AND SEA" by Municipal Ordinance No. 4263/01.
It is located 15 km from the city of Puerto Madryn covering an area parallel to the coast 3 km wide, extending from Cerro Punta to Arco Prismatic along 25 km.
The main attraction is the land watching the Southern Right Whale (Eubalaena australis) who gather there every year between the months of June to October to mate and nurse their young. The physiognomy of its coastline makes it more attractive and successful whale, so these huge cetaceans can be seen just a few meters from the beach, taking into account the high tide schedules which are available at Tourist Information Centres.
In the observatory "Punta Flecha", place created by the Natural Patagonia Foundation, you can find information and interpret the life of these marine specimens.
The fauna is present through guanacos, maras, foxes, skunks and other wildlife of this semi-desert ecosystem.
Area characteristics allow the development of other recreational activities in addition to the typical of a coastal environment (sun, beach, hiking, mountain bike) and nature photography and birding (birdwatching).
