It is located in the coordinates: 54 ° 48'57 "S 68 ° 19'04" W and 6 m, emplazándose on Ushuaia Bay, surrounded on the west, north and east by the Fuegian Andes. From the position of the rest of Argentina, is the only city in the country which is accessed across part of the Andes mountain range that runs along the southern edge of the island of Tierra del Fuego. To access Ushuaia must overcome two major foothills of the Fuegian Andes through National Route 3: the Sierra Alvear by Garibaldi mountain pass, and the Sierra-Montes Sorondo Bridges by river valley Olivia.6 July 8 Therefore, in Argentina is considered the only city trasandina, but to access it has not to cross the entire chain
 
Ushuaia is at the foot of the last stretches of the Andes Mountains, at altitudes below 1500 m. The surrounding mountains are the Martial, with the Martial Mountains, Roy, Middle and Two Flags and housing the Martial glacier, and saw Sorondo, where the hill Cloche (1000 m) and Mount Olivia famous touristically (1318 m) and Mount Five Brothers (1280 masl). To the north of the department Ushuaia, the southern side of Lake Fagnano, is the Sierra Alvear, where the hill of the same name, of 1445 meters. Between the mountains and the Sierra Alvear is the saw Martial Vinciguerra, whose highest peak is the mountain of the same name in 1450 masl. To the east of Ushuaia is the saw Lucas Bridges, where the highest peak in the Argentine sector of the island of Tierra del Fuego: Mount Cornu, with 1490 meters. The Cerro Guanaco, the umbilical del Toro, within the National Park, has 970 msmn.
 
Ushuaia has a typically Southern cuisine, where you can sample traditional Fuegian crab, black hake, pollock and sea bream, seafood and fish, as well as the Patagonian lamb barbecue at the withers. Every year, during the winter, is the Festival Gourmet International 'simmering Ushuaia "is an event in which circuits include gourmet cooking classes, tastings and training for professionals. With dishes based on lamb, trout, black hake, mussels, crab, etc.
