Place to visit of the Month: THE KING NATIONAL PARK
 

 
The National Park King was created in 1948 to preserve a section of the Yungas and transitional environments between them and the Chaco Serrano.
 
 
The protected area covers an area of ​​44,162 hectares in the province of Salta.
From the hills that dominate the landscape of the park, down the waters of numerous streams that flow into the river Popayán.
Protecting environments belong to mountain forest ecoregions or Yungas of northwestern Argentina and dry chaco. The climate is warm, with temperatures absolute maximum torque the continent. Rainfall is summer and vary between 500 and 700 mm.
 
 
The protected area is in the Department of Anta, Salta province, 80 km from the provincial capital.
From the cities of Salta, General Guemes and Metán are accessible via National Highway 34 to the town of Lumbreras. From there you walk 45 km on Provincial Route 5 to get to Paso de la Cruz, where provincial joins Route 20. By this route, after traveling 36 km, you reach the park. Traveling 11 kilometers, you reach the Operations Centre and Camping area.
Route 20 is a gravel road that sometimes becomes impassable in summer, due to the rains.
