In April of 1964, by idea of Mr. Arturo Brossio and with the support of the Rotary Club of Escobar, the FLOR NATIONAL PARTY was born in this city. In that same year, on September 22nd, President Arturo ILLIA, signed Decree 7424/64, expressly stating that said Fiesta "should be celebrated in the city of Belén de Escobar between the last fortnight of September and the first of October of each year ".
In 1968, during the management of the Municipal Intendant Mr. Alberto Ferrari Marin, the Entity was granted legal status, and in 1969 the newly formed "Civil Society National Flower Festival" acquired six hectares to raise the first "Floral City of the Argentine Republic", which currently has pavilions covering more than five thousand square meters. The Florihorticulture and Gardening School, which is incorporated into official education, is a private educational institution under the General Department of Schools of the Province of Buenos Aires.
Between 1979 and 1980, the exhibition was declared Latin American and International, with the participation of countries such as Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Uruguay, France and Italy.
In 1988 the Silver Weddings were celebrated and a special edition was organized for this purpose, where the First Child Queen of the Cocoon was elected.
In the year 1996, Mr. Luis Juan Brusi retired from the Institution, who for almost thirty years presided over the Entity and was the architect of the growth that gave it the current level. Upon his retirement he was appointed Honorary President.
Currently every year the Civil Society Flower Festival carries out the parade of floats that travels the streets of the city presenting each time new floral ornaments. Likewise, the "National Queen of the Flower" and the "Queen of the Capullo" are chosen, all these events that position our "Fiesta" as one of the most important in the calendar of popular Argentine fiestas.
